General
Kensington and Hyde Park
What l did: Wondered around the park trying to capture moments
What l learned: moving moments are hard to capture
London
What l did: hopped on/off a tourist bus for the day
What l learned: rushing photos often means photos with problems. Composition is worth it. Personally I think I prefer landscapes, animals and portraits. Crowds are hard.
Perivale – B&W Experiments
What l did: Short walk from Perivale to Hanger Lane, pausing for things of interest. Photo editing with Adobe Lightroom to play with full and partial saturation editing as well as filters and vignettes
What l learned: removing colour is as useful as adding colour
Rickmansworth
What l did: Waited at Rickmansworth for an old steam train I knew would be passing a few times. Took photos from platform and top of multistory car park. Finished with quiet walk home by canal
What l learned: Planning is king
Ruislip Lido
What l did: A few hour walking around a local forest and lido
What l learned: Country walks need propper shoes
Notting Hill Carnival
What l did: went early to notting hill carnival and got a spot at the front of the crowds lining the street
What l learned: have the sun on your back not in your face.
Kew
What l did: Wallked around Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew.
What l learned:
the place where you choose to stand is as important as what you want to capture
Northolt Fields, Greenford Canal
What l did: went for a walk along a local canal and then post-processed some shots with an evaluation copy of hdr software.
What l learned: hdr shots look stunning, but also look artificial. A usefull
too for specific contexts
